Post Christmas at the Ranch

When it rained we were immersed in reading, opening more Christmas gifts, introducing great-grandparents to the wonders of Skype, groaning at Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (bossanova, dude!), and hot baths.

When the sun came out we touched velvety noses, listened to the whinnying and clippity clop we'd only really heard in movies, caught glimpses of rainbows and glinty droplets.

It was even worth the hours and hours in the car with fidgety small ones, the horrors of Jack in the Box (I know, I know - I am fast food illiterate), the nights of interrupted sleep and the morning where I had to go hours before I got any coffee in my system.
