I'm 2 but I'll never admit it.

Drew is going through a phase where nothing is ever quite right in her little 2-year-old world. She whines that she's hungry while she's still eating. If we're going to the park she wants to be home. If it's a school day, she wants to be in "gymnastics cwass". Last night, she said her knee hurt and though there were no bumps, bruises or scrapes, nothing would do but a band-aid.

my knee hurts

So I did what any mommy does who just wants their child to feel better, I put on a band-aid. These things have magical powers, I tell you. The second I put it on, she felt better.... for about 3 seconds. Then she ripped it off and put it on the other knee.

band-aids make everything better

first wedding: Angie & Jason

Angie and Jason first met in preschool, but they don't remember. They know this because they are in their class picture together. They grew up in the same small town and when they grew up and moved away, they even lived blocks from one another more on more than one occasion. Life tried over and over to help bring these two into each other's lives. Finally, in August, they came together in marriage -- beautifully!

Ben and I have discovered the best way to prevent late night arguments when we crawl into bed at the end of a very cold day.

The kids like to join in, too.

Hide & Seek

This time we'll hide I've been hiding out for quite some time now! Life has been up and down, inside out and normal, crazy, then quiet. I've taken millions of photos, then put the camera away for months. I'd like to be back here again, sharing more bits of the roller coaster of my life!

Rainy Spring

It's definitely spring here in Portland! The sun comes out in all its warm, sunshiney glory and then ten minutes later it is pouring down buckets.

The same has been happening in my family's personal life. Fantastic opportunities spring up, small pleasures abound and ----whsssssshhhhhhip -- they frequently get swept away. Life changes quickly and dramatically.

We're in the midst of a figurative rainstorm currently, so I thought I'd post some picture of the downpour we had a couple of days ago while I try to remind myself that it takes both sun and rain for growth to happen.

resemblance

I think I figure out why I loved photographing this woman so much.

She reminded me so much of the famous photograph Annie Leibowitz took of her mother, Marilyn Leibowitz.

I'm reading Annie Leibowitz At Work right now, and it is so inspiring to read about all her learning process, her mistakes, her triumphs, and how she achieved her shots. This photo of her mother is her favorite.
